WHAT WE DO
Friends at First is a community-driven outreach ministry based at First United Methodist Church of Mesa. Our mission is simple: to meet people where they are—with dignity, compassion, and practical support.
We serve individuals and families experiencing housing instability, food insecurity, and crisis by offering immediate essentials like meals, clothing, hygiene supplies, and access to showers. But more than that, we walk alongside our guests, helping them navigate resources, rebuild trust, and move forward with hope.
Open multiple days each week, Friends at First is a safe space where every person is seen, heard, and treated with respect. Our team is made up of volunteers, community partners, and those who have lived experience themselves—making our care not just generous, but deeply informed.
Whether you’re in need, looking to serve, or simply want to learn more, there’s a place for you at Friends at First. Because no one should have to walk through hard times alone.
